Plan limits

Readsira has three plans: Free, Pro and Research. The numbers on this page are generated from the same table the API enforces, so they are the limits you actually get.

Prices

PlanMonthly billing, per monthAnnual billing, per year
Free0 EUR0 EUR
Pro9 EUR84 EUR
Research19 EUR199 EUR

Founder offer: Pro on annual billing at 69 EUR per year for the first 500 subscribers.

Trial

The trial lasts 14 days.

Every verified email address can start one free trial of Pro, without a card. During the trial you get Pro's limits from the table below, with a smaller monthly AI budget. When it ends you are back on Free; nothing you created is deleted (see At the limit).

How limits are counted

  • Counts without a period (saved items, feeds, public collections, active projects, items per project, projects with Radar, keys, connected apps) are what you have right now. Deleting, archiving or disconnecting something frees its place.
  • Per month means the calendar month in UTC. Ask answers, cited project outputs, transcription minutes and upload volume start again at 0 on the first day of each month.
  • Per day means the UTC day (00:00 to 24:00 UTC). REST requests and MCP tool calls are per account, summed over all your keys.
  • Per hour per key is the most a single key may make in an hour. You can set a lower value on each key; a higher one is capped at your plan's maximum.
  • GB is 1024 x 1024 x 1024 bytes. Uploads per month is the total size of the audio, video and PDF files you upload in a month; Largest upload file is the limit for one file.
  • min are minutes of audio or video. Transcription per month counts only the transcription Readsira runs itself; transcripts taken from a video's own captions do not count. Longest audio or video upload applies to one file: a longer one is refused before any transcription starts.
  • Ask answers are the answers you get from chat, Ask and the API's /ask: one answer is one request. Cited project outputs are the documents generated in a project (memos, briefs, literature reviews, comparisons); one that is cancelled after it started still counts.
  • Fair use on saved items (Free) and RSS feeds (Pro, Research) is a ceiling set high to stop automated abuse. Pricing pages show these ceilings with "(fair use)".
  • Unlimited has no count limit. Not included means the feature is not part of the plan.

Besides these counts, every plan has a monthly AI budget that covers the cost of the models Readsira runs for you. Settings, Plan and billing shows how much of each limit and budget you have used, as a percentage.

Importing your library from another service is free on every plan and does not use these limits, except that the imported items count towards Saved items on Free. See Import your library.

At the limit

  • Creating one more of something with a count limit (a feed, a project, a key, a connected app, a public collection, an item over the fair use) is refused with 402 PLAN_LIMIT_REACHED. error.details names the limit, its maximum and your plan. The app shows an upgrade prompt. Adding an item to a full project over the API or MCP answers PROJECT_LIMIT_REACHED.
  • Monthly counts (Ask answers, cited outputs) answer 402 PLAN_LIMIT_REACHED until the first of the next month or until you upgrade. Transcriptions that would go over the month's minutes do not start.
  • AI budget used up: new AI answers and outputs answer 402 AI_QUOTA_EXCEEDED until the first of the next month. Reading, saving, search, feeds and exports keep working. With your own model key (Pro and Research), calls made with that key do not use the budget.
  • Daily and hourly request limits answer 429 RATE_LIMITED with a Retry-After header; see Keys, scopes and limits.

When you move to a smaller plan

Nothing is deleted. If you have more than the new plan allows (for example more feeds than Free's limit, or more projects), everything stays readable and exportable; you cannot add more until you are under the limit again or upgrade. Features the new plan does not include (for example AI triage or Radar on Free) stop, and API key scopes beyond the new plan are ignored until you upgrade again.
