Import from Instapaper
Get your export
- Sign in to Instapaper on the web.
- Open Settings and find the Export section.
- Download the CSV file. The HTML export works too, but it does not include highlights.
Which file to upload
- CSV (recommended). Its header row is
URL,Title,Selection,Folder,Timestamp. - HTML (titled "Instapaper: Export", one heading per folder).
Then open the Import page in Readsira, choose Instapaper and drop the file.
What comes across
| In Instapaper | In Readsira |
|---|---|
| Link and title | The saved item |
| Timestamp | The item's saved date |
| Folder "Unread" | In your Inbox |
| Folder "Archive" | Archived |
| Folder "Starred" | Starred, in your Inbox |
| Your own folders | Collections |
Selection (CSV only) | A highlight on the item |
Instapaper's export puts each article in one folder, so an article in one of your own folders comes across unread and not starred.
Highlights come only from the Selection column of the CSV export, one highlight per row.
The HTML export has no highlights, so upload the CSV if you want them.
What does not
- Tags and notes: not imported from Instapaper.
- Reading progress: not in Instapaper's export.
- Highlights from the HTML export: the HTML file does not contain them. Use the CSV if you want them.
Duplicates, undo and size limits work the same for every source: see Import your library.
