Import from Raindrop.io
Get your export
- Open Raindrop.io in your browser and sign in.
- Open Settings and find the backup or export section.
- Create a backup and download it as CSV. HTML works too, but it does not include highlights or excerpts.
If you received a ZIP, unpack it and upload the CSV or HTML file inside: Readsira reads only Pocket and Omnivore exports from a ZIP.
Which file to upload
- CSV (recommended). Its header row has the columns
id,title, note, excerpt, url, folder, tags, created, cover, highlights, favorite. - HTML, the bookmark file Raindrop exports (it starts with
<!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1>and marks links with Raindrop's own attributes).
Then open the Import page in Readsira, choose Raindrop.io and drop the file.
What comes across
| In Raindrop.io | In Readsira |
|---|---|
| Link and title | The saved item |
Collections, including nested ones (Dev / Go) | Collections, nested the same way |
| "Unsorted" | No collection of its own (the import's root) |
| Tags | Tags |
| Note | Your personal note on the item |
| Excerpt (CSV only) | The item's description |
| Created date | The item's saved date |
| Favourite | Starred |
| Highlights and their notes (CSV only) | Highlights on the item, with their notes |
All items go to your Inbox: Raindrop's export has no read or archived state.
What does not
- Read status: not in Raindrop's export.
- Cover images: not imported.
- Highlights and excerpts from the HTML export: the HTML file does not contain them. Use the CSV if you want them.
If an HTML file has none of Raindrop's own attributes near its start, Readsira reads it as a plain browser bookmarks file: links, folders and tags still come across and each note becomes the item's description, but favourites do not, and an "Unsorted" folder becomes a collection.
Duplicates, undo and size limits work the same for every source: see Import your library.
